Solutions
1. Increase people's pay - Most people in the Honduras are subsistence farmers, which means they only grow enough food to feed their families, and very little to sell to other people. They earn very little money. If we increase the peoples' income by selling their agriculture products or import them to other countries, they might have enough money to at least buy a bottle water.
2. Build pipelines - Pipelines are life-savers for many people in the Honduras. They deliver freshwater to thousands of people. When Hurricane Mitch made landfall, it destroyed millions of pipelines, which resulted in a large amount of people having loss to freshwater. If we built new pipelines, lots of people would regain access to clean water.
3. Build ranches for livestock - As we mentioned before, livestock can pollute bodies of water with their waste. Livestock really belong on ranches. If we made ranches for livestock, they would stay there and not go anywhere near bodies of water.
4. Add chlorine to water - According to the book The Periodic Table: Elements with Style!, if you add a small amount of chlorine to drinking water supplies, it can save millions of people from waterborne diseases such as typhoid fever and cholera.
5. Donate to charities - Donating to a charity like Pure Water for the World or Water Missions can help Honduras to have clean water. Your money not only goes to the charity, but can help millions!
6. Recycle water - Recycling water can help millions. If there are many factories that can recycle and produce new fresh, clean water, we can save many people!
7. Build desalination plants - Even though desalination plants are quite expensive, they help lots of people. If a desalination plant was built on the coast of the Honduras, it would remove salt from ocean water and convert it to fresh water. Then the fresh water would then be bottled, or be transported to people's homes by pipeline.
